It started off as a radio show produced and presented by Kevin Moore , on the University of Glamorgan’s student radio station, Tequila Radio three years ago. Since then, the radio show has gone from strength to strength and the show is now broadcast and has been syndicated by 18 other stations across the UK, including Radio Cardiff, Manchester 106.6 FM, Edinburgh Leith FM and West London Hays FM.

The impact of groundbreaking drama Cathy Come Home is explored in a new book out today (Friday 12th November).

Its story is very simple: Cathy (Carol White), newly arrived in London from the provinces, meets and marries Reg (Ray Brooks) and starts a family. An accident results in Reg losing his job, and the film charts their remorseless descent through the housing system, which is revealed as being inadequate and heartless. By the end of the film, Cathy and her three children are in a hostel for the homeless, from which she is eventually evicted. Finally, in one of the most emotional scenes in the history of television drama, Cathy’s children are forcibly removed from her by social services on Liverpool Street Station.

Student film script attracts Welsh ‘Four Weddings’ actor David Bower

A script written by Screen Academy Wales students tackling the isolation of deafness is to star Welsh-born deaf actor David Bower, best known for his role as David in Four Weddings and a Funeral. The Wrexham-born actor has agreed to play the lead character in a sensitively written student film ‘Little Voices’, the tale of a bereaved and isolated deaf man struggling to cope with losing his partner.

When computer game ‘The One Ring’ was launched last month to all users of social networking site Facebook, two University of Glamorgan graduates were among the team celebrating its success.

The game is a new turn-based game, based on The Lord of the Rings™ trilogy of books by J.R.R Tolkien and created by Cardiff –based company Microcosm Games. The game is available to play to all members of Facebook and already has hundreds of active participants.
