Professor Khalid Al-Begain, Faculty of Advanced Technology, has been appointed to a Welsh Government Steering Group looking at the future of computer science and ICT in schools.
The group will develop proposals in relation to the implementation of ICT in schools, and provide a report on the way forward.
The recommendations will inform the wider review of assessment and the National Curriculum in Wales, which will be announced in October this year.
Minister for Education and Skills Leighton Andrews said, “I have established a Steering Group to take forward consideration of the future of computer science and ICT in schools. The group will consider the key findings of the seminar, develop proposals in relation to their implementation, and provide a report on the way forward.”
Professor Al-Begain is the Director of the Centre for Mobile Applications and Services (CEMAS) at the University of Glamorgan.
