The University of Glamorgan is asking local people and organisations to help choose the name for a brand new University for South Wales.
Earlier this year, Glamorgan announced that it was entering discussions with the University of Wales, Newport to create the new university which will provide graduates with the best learning environment and practical work experience opportunities as standard.
The universities have now appointed Cardiff based company Beaufort Research to consult with stakeholders across South Wales in order to find a name for the new University that will reflect its mission as it develops.
The University is calling on local people to have their say and propose ideas by completing a confidential survey.
A spokesperson for the University of Glamorgan said, “Next year Glamorgan celebrates its 100th year at our Treforest site and we are immensely proud of this history and our place at the heart of the communities which we service. We are keen to hear the opinions of local people and businesses in these communities in order to inform decisions on our new identity.
Choosing a name which reflects the strengths and heritage of both universities is very important but we also need to choose a name which will enable us to compete nationally and internationally and we hope that people will take this opportunity to share their suggestions with us in this process.”
