February 7, 2012

‘The College @ Merthyr Tydfil’ has been announced as the official name for the new tertiary development due to open in Merthyr Tydfil in 2013.

This new name will replace the current working title ‘Merthyr Learning Quarter’ and will significantly help to promote the impressive campus as an integral hub for the provision of post 16 learning opportunities across Merthyr Tydfil and the County Borough.

John O’Shea Dean of Merthyr Tydfil College said, “The building will embrace 21st century technology and practices, providing first class teaching and learning opportunities that will inspire learners across Merthyr Tydfil and its surrounding communities to engage in further and higher education, update and improve their qualification levels and maximise their potential.”

The College @ Merthyr Tydfil was agreed by the Merthyr Tydfil Board of Directors and University of Glamorgan Board of Governors on 30th January 2012, following much consideration and discussion by a team of communication advisers, comprising key representatives from local secondary schools, Merthyr Tydfil Council and Merthyr Tydfil College.
