Cardiff City stars call in at sports camp

Youngsters from across South Wales have been taking part in training sessions with football players from Cardiff City this month as part of the summer sports camps at the University of Glamorgan.

Children at Glamorgan's summer sports camp are visited by Cardiff City football players Joe Lewis and Jordon Mutch Goalkeeper Joe Lewis and midfielder Jordon Mutch, the club’s £2m summer signing from Birmingham City, called into a session at the University.

The camps are organised for children between the ages of 8 and 14 and take place at the sports centre on the University’s Treforest campus.

Children take part in a whole range of activities from trampolining to archery and basketball.

Emma Bradshaw, Sports Participation Manager at the University and Sports Camp Co-ordinator said: “We are thrilled to be able to offer children on the sports camp the unique opportunity to work with top class sports professionals. Both boys and girls take part in the camp and take advantage of the fantastic facilities we have on campus.

“The school holiday camps familiarise children with being in a university environment which hopefully will lead to them considering pursuing higher education in the future.”

Malky Mackay, Cardiff City Manager said: “The children’s sports camps are a great way to encourage support for the club whilst providing children with the opportunity to meet some of the star players.”
