Technology giant Intel recruits Glamorgan student

December 16, 2011

Pippa Bleach, a second year student studying Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the University of Glamorgan’s Faculty of Business and Society has recently been recruited by technology giant Intel on a year long placement scheme.

Following an in-depth application process, and a six week classroom-based induction period, Pippa is now working as an Embedded Geographic Business and Supply Analyst at the company’s Reading base.

Pippa said: “Right from the start of my placement I was given a vast amount of responsibility, dealing with the supply of a $250m worth of annual business; it’s a great bonus as I really feel that I’m contributing to the business”.

Pippa’s role for the company is to act as an interface between customers and suppliers to ensure continuity of supply. Only 4 months after her induction, Pippa has already been involved with the setting up of a distribution hub in Amsterdam. She also represents the Embedded Division in internal meetings giving presentations to divisional management.

Taking advantage of the company policy to encourage interns to arrange one-to-one meetings with other members of staff, Pippa is also using her work placement to help her decide the direction she wants to take following graduation.

Dr Kathryn Ringwald, Senior Lecturer and Faculty Employability Champion who visited Pippa’s workplace, said “Pippa is doing very well and is certainly making the most of every opportunity, developing specific subject skills and key employability skills.”

Pippa will return to the University of Glamorgan next September to finish the final year of the BA(Hons) Logistics and Supply Chain Management course run by the Glamorgan Business School.
