Welsh Bacc Conference at Glamorgan
February 4, 2010
First Campus, based at the University of Glamorgan’s Centre for Lifelong Learning, organised a ‘Delivering the Welsh Baccalaureate; Wales-Wide Approaches’ conference on Thursday 21st January 2010.
More than a hundred delegates from the education sector across Wales came to share their experiences of working with the qualification and discuss ways forward. Keynote speeches came from Gavin Thomas of CollegesWales (previously Fforwm) and Ross Thomas of the WJEC.
There has been a rapid growth in the number of students undertaking the Welsh Baccalaureate qualification, and it’s increasing prominence meant that the conference was very well attended, with representation from the FE sector, schools, HE and local government.
Kathryn Maddy, First Campus manager, said “We would like to thank HEFCW for their financial support which made the conference possible. It was exciting to see people from all across Wales attending the conference. We would also like to thank all our contributors for helping to make a very successful event.”
