Merthyr Stories Website Re-launched
December 3, 2009
The University of Glamorgan’s Glamorgan GATES project is re-launching its ‘Merthyr Stories’ website this month, 11th December.
The website (www.merthyrdigitalstories.org.uk) has been active since 2006 and is being re-launched as Merthyr Digital Stories.
The site has more than one hundred stories and most are written by people, old and young, who live in the Borough of Merthyr Tydfil.
All the stories are personal. Some describe memories of the Merthyr valley, both happy and sad. A few describe experiences abroad, in Africa, Iceland, India and Korea.
Other stories describe the environment of Merthyr Tydfil as it is today, seen through fresh eyes, valley and town. Some of the story-tellers have written about their holidays and friends, others relate how they have adjusted to various health or family issues.
Many of these accounts are powerful and moving. There are also many gentle, whimsical and witty tales.
The Glamorgan GATES project is run by the University’s Centre for Lifelong Learning.
If you have a story to tell please contact the team on 01685 729940 or call in the Glamorgan GATES office.
