Zoom Award Winners

The University of Glamorgan’s Merthyr Media Project is celebrating success at this year’s Zoom awards.
Shane Williams won the accolade for best actor for his role in the film ‘Excuses’ and was presented with his award by actor Gareth David Lloyd who plays the character of Ianto Jones in BBC series Torchwood.
A former Cyfarthfa High pupil, Shane, 17, is from the Penyard area of Merthyr and is now on a plumbing course at Merthyr College, University of Glamorgan.
Zoom offers young people across the South Wales valleys an opportunity to work with others to create their own film and media projects. Through Zoom’s activities young people can make new friends, develop new skills and comment on the world around them.
The Merthyr Media project is run by the University of Glamorgan’s Centre for Lifelong Learning and encourages people from the Merthyr area to consider possible employment in the film, media and multi-media industries.
