First Book Success for Creative Writing Student

Mike Thomas a student on the University of Glamorgan’s Masters course in Creative Writing has published his first novel ‘A Pocket Notebook’, which is inspired by his own experiences of working in the police force.

Welsh Bacc Conference at Glamorgan

First Campus, based at the University of Glamorgan’s Centre for Lifelong Learning, organised a ‘Delivering the Welsh Baccalaureate; Wales-Wide Approaches’ conference on Thursday 21st January 2010.

More than a hundred delegates from the education sector across Wales came to share their experiences of working with the qualification and discuss ways forward. Keynote speeches came from Gavin Thomas of CollegesWales (previously Fforwm) and Ross Thomas of the WJEC.

Glamorgan student midwife wins National Midwifery Award

A University of Glamorgan midwifery student has been awarded one of the UK’s top midwifery prizes at the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Annual Awards, the UK’s most prestigious midwifery awards, held in London on 27th January, 2010.

Making Archaeological Data Easily Accessible

Accessing findings from archaeological excavations will soon become easier thanks to researchers at the University of Glamorgan.

The University’s Hypermedia Research Unit has recently been awarded £110k from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) for its Semantic Technologies Enhancing Links and Linked data for Archaeological Resources (STELLAR)project – a collaboration with York University’s Archaeology Department and English Heritage.

2010 Ursula Masson Memorial Lecture and Book Launch

Professor June Hannam of the University of the West of England will give the second Ursula Masson Memorial Lecture at 6.00 pm on International Women’s Day, Monday 8th March 2010, in the Glamorgan Conference Centre at the University of Glamorgan, Pontypridd, under the auspices of the Glamorgan Centre for Gender Studies in Wales.
