Climbing Captains get the once-over from top Glamorgan medics

Welsh rugby captains scaling Kilimanjaro to raise money for Velindre Hospital are starting their strict medical checks and acclimatisation training at the University of Glamorgan. Two members of the SA Brain Captains Climb team, former Wales hooker Garin Jenkins and journalist Madeleine Brindley, were the latest to be assessed at the University’s state-of-the-art facilities in Glyntaff, near Pontypridd.

Players of the future talk rugby with Blues stars at Glamorgan Sports Camp

Young rugby players at a summer Glamorgan Sports Camp have enjoyed the chance to meet and play with their idols. Cardiff Blues stars Faao Filise and Gareth Williams took part in training and a question-and-answer session with over 40 budding sportsmen and women at the Treforest Campus.

Student film script attracts Welsh ‘Four Weddings’ actor David Bower

A script written by Screen Academy Wales students tackling the isolation of deafness is to star Welsh-born deaf actor David Bower, best known for his role as David in Four Weddings and a Funeral. The Wrexham-born actor has agreed to play the lead character in a sensitively written student film ‘Little Voices’, the tale of a bereaved and isolated deaf man struggling to cope with losing his partner.

The Casebook of Violet Strange: The Inseparables was written by Diane Lake for Glamorgan’s Cardiff School of Creative and Cultural Industries, is now available to the public through iTunes.
