About the lecture Professor Diana Wallace

Professor Diana Wallace Wallace from the Faculty of Business and Society presents her inaugural professorial lecture: The Gender of English.

Regarded from its inception as an appropriate subject for the women then first beginning to enter universities, English Studies still predominately attracts female students.

It has, nevertheless, been dominated and professionalised by male lecturers and professors. How does this gender balance affect thinking about ‘English Literature’?
