Royal Historical Society's Regional Symposium 2011

The Royal Historical Society‘s regional symposium for 2011 is to be hosted by the University of Glamorgan on behalf of History Research Wales, the alliance between the five research-led History Departments in Welsh HE.

Day 1 (Thursday, 3 November) of Visualising the Past: History, Heritage and Technology will include a plenary lecture by Dr Richard Suggett (Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments in Wales) and a series of presentations that bear upon ‘visualising the past’ by researchers from across Welsh HE.

The keynote address and other presentations are open to all and free of charge, but please register using the form below. A detailed programme will be sent out to all registered participants.

Day 2 (Friday, 4 November) of Visualising the Past: History, Heritage and Technology will involve specialised training workshops in IT and digital technologies for postgraduate researchers, led by tutors from the Institute of Historical Research, London.
There will be sessions on:
- Databases
- Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis
- Maps, Spatial Analysis and GIS
- Sources, Citation and Referencing
- Using Visual Sources
Payment
Most of the costs of this event are being met by a generous grant from the Economic History Society, but there will be a charge of £20 per head.
